Yet Another Notebook

My latest commission was a monogram notebook in damson and pink, which I've just this minute finished. It's for a good friend and I'm sure she'll like it. The monogram notebooks are becoming quite popular, probably customers looking for something personalised for Christmas.

My next notebook is going to have a celtic design on the cover and could be the start of a new series. I've not decided on the colours or the size yet, but I'll do that next week. This one I'll be putting on the website for sale.

After doing my voluntary work today, I had a lovely walk down the High Street today, haven't done that for years. Had a seat at a cafe and just watched people go by. Took a photo of John Knox's house, it's amazing that it's still in such good condition. I bought some Mehari's in the Robert Graham Cigar Shop, never been in before, they have a good selection. Dropped in on Sandra and Dee in the Wyrd Shop, it's been years since I've seen them, left some business cards there (many thanks S&D) and hopefully I might find some buyers for a couple of things I'd like to sell. After that I sat on a bench outside the Canongate Kirk and had one of my Mehari's, it was very nice, then got the bus home. It was an enjoyable day.

Latest Commission Completed

Just completed my latest commission. It is a coptic bound A7 notebook with a KM monogram. The background is blue with black stitching and the monogram in purple and lilac is needle felted on the front. There are 9 signatures of 120gsm white paper, each with a different colour of paper folded around each section to give the spine a rainbow look.

I really love doing these notebooks. There is something satisfying about sewing the final few stitches and having a completed book in my hand.  The notebook is going to be posted off tomorrow, so that there will be plenty of time for it to be given as a gift at Christmas.

Paper Purchasing Spree

I have a new commission. It's going to be another monogram, Coptic bound, A7 notebook. The buyer would like a coloured spine with white writing paper, so I have a wonderful excuse to head into town and visit one of my favourite shops - Paperchase. I just love their products. Lovely writing paper, fantastic sheet of wrapping paper and some paper thick enough to use as a wrapper for binding books. Ricardo waited in the car for me while I headed along George Street, I think he gets rather bored looking at bits of paper, etc.

There are going to be 9 signatures in the notebook, so I bought 9 different coloured pieces of notepaper. I also spotted some lovely sparkly paper with a vintage feel to it that would look terrific on case bound notebook. The photo doesn't really show the colours that well unfortunately. I also bought some tracing paper, but that's for something else altogether.
